Medical licensure

Physician licensure by state

Anesthesiology practices that hire across state lines need each board's application route, fees, renewal rules and compact status in one place. Every fact below links to the official state board page it came from; where a board does not publish a figure online, the table says to ask the board.

Hiring workflow

Build a clinician file with the degree, jurisdiction, application status, board correspondence, license number, issue and expiration dates, and renewal owner. Physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and nurse anesthetists use their own licensing boards. Payer enrollment, facility privileges and employment onboarding are separate from state licensure. Confirm active status with the official board before clinical work begins.

Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

The IMLC gives eligible physicians an expedited pathway to licenses in participating jurisdictions; it does not create a single nationwide license. Status categories follow the IMLCC participating states page.
